RES is recruiting for an Airframe Design Lead on behalf of a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of military and commercial helicopters. This position will be a part of an International Military program. The Company will collaborate with specific countries to design and develop aircraft. This position, which will be based in Stratford, CT., will be responsible for directing the Company's Aircraft airframe preliminary design activity, transition of detail design to the specific country and technical/program support of detail design effort through 100% drawing release.
Job Description
The Airframe Design Lead position will provide a tremendous opportunity for an individual interested in working in an international environment as part of the Program Team. This program will include multiple configurations that will ultimately lead to a 100+ build.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Support development and maintenance of a fully integrated schedule for all Airframe design activities;
- Lead a group of designers engaged in Preliminary Design and Basic Data (includes 3-D modeling / 2D layouts) using CATIA V4 and PLM/BOM systems;
Ensure developed designs meet all technical requirements and all interfaces are fully coordinated and described using GD&T as required. Other responsibilities will be detailed.
TECHNICAL POC:
- Support transition of Airframe Detail Design offload to Turkey and through design release;
- Conduct cost/schedule planning, tracking and reporting for offloaded Airframe Design activities on a monthly basis;
- Participate in Airframe Design Technical Interchanged Meetings as required.
Job Requirements
To qualify for this position, the candidate will possess:
- BS Degree (minimum) in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering;
- Strong technical background in Airframe design (8 years minimum) of primary and secondary structures utilizing metal and/or composite materials and the ability to lead a design team;
- Experience using CATIA V4 to create 3-D part geometry models and Modification Kit / Production type drawings. Able to work with legacy data (e.g. mylars, 2-D CAD) as necessary;
- Experience in developing and coordinating requirements and interfaces including a good understanding of GD&T;
- Experience in managing large design projects including familiarity with cost schedule reporting systems, EVMS or equivalent;
- Ability to handle both executive level and international supplier communication, including use of IFM's as required;
- Proficient in MS Office products (WORD, Excel and PowerPoint).
Excellent written, oral and presentation skills required. We are seeking as organized, highly motivated, flexible individual with demonstrated technical ability and strong business judgment.
